KING OF THE BOARDS
|By Gary Doyle|
Jimmy Murphy was the race car driver of the Decade of the 1920's. He piloted championship Duesenberg and Miller cars on the board tracks, Indianapolis, the French and Italian Grand Prix's.
He had a brief, but significant, life in auto racing that spanned from 1916 to 1924. He was a riding mechanic in the employ of Duesenberg until becoming a driver in 1919.
The book is an analysis of his significance to the sport, details of his life, the drama of early championship car racing and life in America in the 1920's.
